About the position

The Toddler Teacher at Sweet Pea Learning Center is responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for toddlers. This role involves leading a classroom of up to 8 children, collaborating with a team of teachers, and ensuring that each child's individual needs are met through age-appropriate curriculum and activities. The ideal candidate will be creative, flexible, and possess a positive attitude, contributing to the overall mission of fostering children's development and well-being.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a classroom with up to 8 children, supported by a team of up to 2 teachers.
  • Supervise the activities of an aide assigned to the group.
  • Engage with children daily to promote a positive learning environment.
  • Create and implement an educationally stimulating environment through various activities.
  • Organize classroom areas and supplies effectively.
  • Manage the daily flow of activities and routines.

Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Completion of 20 credits (semester system) or 30 credits (quarter system) in early childhood education, or a one-year state or nationally recognized credential in Infants and/or toddlers curriculum, or at least 750 hours of qualifying teaching experience in a Certified Child Care Center, or completion of 10 credits (semester system) or 15 credits (quarter system) in early childhood education and at least six months of qualifying teaching experience in a Certified Child Care Center.
  • Ability to lead and manage a classroom effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Completed OCC approved health and safety training.
  • Completed OCC approved safe sleep training.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with parents, staff, and Directors.
  • Ability to implement company policies and procedures with staff and parents.
  • Firm grasp of each child's developmental level, abilities, allergies, and daily routine.
  • Minimum of 1 year commitment to the position.
