The Assistant General Manager at Tomboy Tavern plays a crucial role in overseeing the front-of-house operations during food service and in the absence of the General Manager. This position requires a strong focus on customer service, ensuring that patrons receive fast and courteous service. The Assistant General Manager will liaise with the Chef and kitchen staff to maintain a smooth and efficient food service experience. The role involves training and directing cashiers and servers in the operation of the Point of Sale (POS) system, managing cash banks, and ensuring accountability for sales transactions. Additionally, the Assistant General Manager is responsible for maintaining sanitation standards and supervising the cleaning and maintenance of dining areas and public spaces, including entryways and bathrooms. In this position, the Assistant General Manager will also be responsible for ensuring that dining and service areas are properly set up before service and cleaned at the end of the day. They will greet guests, handle complaints, and coordinate the activities of dining room personnel to ensure prompt service. The role includes inspecting service stations for cleanliness, requisitioning supplies, and assisting in training dining room employees. The Assistant General Manager is expected to provide a guest experience that exceeds expectations while supporting the company's sustainability initiatives and adhering to policies and procedures. This position requires a proactive approach to managing staff, as the Assistant General Manager will assist in supervising up to 15 employees, including scheduling, training, and performance appraisals.
