About The Position

The Tool and Die Maker position at Martinrea International Inc. involves analyzing tooling problems, troubleshooting and repairing stamping dies, and operating machine tools. This full-time role is on the night shift, specifically B Shift (Tuesday to Friday, 6pm-4:30am), with opportunities for overtime as needed. The position requires a combination of technical skills and problem-solving abilities to ensure the effective production and maintenance of metal stamping tools and dies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED and three to five years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Tool and Die Apprenticeship Certification/Journeyman's Card.
  • Forklift Operator License and Crane Operator License.
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), CAD software, and KeyCreator software.
  • Excellent communication, problem solving, organization, time management, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, and prioritize.
  • Good knowledge of the English language.
  • Knowledge of Customer Specific Requirements and ISO 9001/IATF 16949.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and troubleshoot tooling problems and recommend improvements to stamping dies.
  • Develop and produce new tooling components as per detail drawings.
  • Utilize measuring equipment, work instructions, and control plans to complete tasks.
  • Assist in quoting and design activities as required.
  • Run tryout presses and production presses safely and effectively.
  • Operate all tooling equipment competently.
  • Diagnose die repair requirements and provide solutions to dimensional problems with stamping dies.
  • Make necessary corrections to stamping dies to achieve correct dimensional status.
  • Set up and operate machine tools for tool repair and improvement.
  • Weld dies as required.
  • Assist production with die problems and tooling improvements.
  • Record daily job numbers and hours in the eMaintenance system.
  • Report product damage/nonconformities to the supervisor.
  • Abide by all company policies including Health and Safety, Quality, and Environmental Systems.
