The position involves assembling, disassembling, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining tooling and dies using a variety of standard methodologies. The role requires performing complex machining to convert raw materials into finished dies and fixtures, as well as conducting preventive maintenance to ensure that dies are production-ready. The individual will maintain logs and appropriate records on die maintenance and will read and study specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, and descriptions to determine the materials and machines needed for fabrication. Participation in tool design and prototype production is also expected, along with computing dimensions, planning layouts, and determining methods for the sequence of operations. The role includes measuring, marking, and scribing metal stock for machining, verifying dimensions, alignments, and clearances, and identifying reasonable timeframes for job completion while communicating any problems and estimated repair times. Adherence to ISO requirements and making recommendations for continuous improvement of tooling and fixtures are also part of the responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
