About the position

The Tool & Die Apprentice position at Latitude Corp is a full-time apprenticeship role focused on manufacturing parts of tooling and maintaining stamping department equipment. The apprentice will work under the guidance of the Vice President of Business Development and Engineering, ensuring adherence to safety procedures and quality standards while developing skills in machining and maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Manufacture parts of tooling as directed.
  • Attend cases as required.
  • Adhere to ISO-9001 quality systems.
  • Responsible for producing quality workmanship that meets or exceeds requirements.
  • Work safely and ensure hazardous conditions are eliminated.
  • Follow company safety procedures.
  • Create dies and fixtures as directed to meet specifications.
  • Ensure output meets required deadlines while executing above.
  • Responsible for maintaining dies as directed.
  • Ensure cross departmental communication is accurate and effective.
  • Complete tasks independently from job-list including set-up, writing and editing programs for equipment.
  • Follow and execute instructions on job travelers and control plan per ISO procedures.
  • Audit finished parts before delivery to QA department for final inspection.
  • Accurately maintain MES system as instructed.
  • Administer CPR or first aid as required when trained.
  • Arrive to work punctually and be willing to work overtime when needed.
  • Maintain a neat and clean work area.
  • Responsible for the flow of work into and out of the department.
  • Assist in monthly inventory as needed.
  • Perform other ad hoc duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 year technical school degree or 2 years experience in machining.
  • General knowledge to perform routine, extensive and preventative maintenance and upkeep of stamping department equipment and instruments used.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Attention to detail and ability to perform highly accurate work.
  • Basic math skills including ability to read and use tape measure, caliper, and micrometer to the fraction and decimal.
  • Mechanically inclined.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Physical capability of lifting 50 lbs safely or with assistance.
  • Capability of standing and bending over for long periods while performing manual labor.

Nice-to-haves

  • Valid CPR Certification.
