About the position

The Tool & Die Maker position at Cherry involves operating and performing basic setups of various machines, including manual and CNC mills, grinders, lathes, and EDMs. This role requires intermediate competencies in print reading and inspection processes, along with basic troubleshooting skills. The position is essential for ensuring quality and compliance in the manufacturing of critical fasteners and components for aerospace applications.

Responsibilities

  • Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction.
  • Adhere to quality processes including in-process inspection to ensure compliance with quality specifications.
  • Correctly interpret work orders.
  • Lift up to 45lbs.
  • Able to work overtime as needed.
  • Operate basic lathes, grinders, and polishing equipment.
  • Machine intermediate tooling components with assistance.
  • Begin to perform basic equipment setups.
  • Communicate with other departments as needed (Thread-roll, heading, etc.).
  • Work in a team environment, following instructions and assisting others as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Requirements

  • The ability to read and write English.
  • The ability to perform basic shop math, including fractions and decimals.
  • The ability to use basic hand tools, such as wrenches.
  • Intermediate print reading skills.
  • Basic familiarity with all relevant tools and equipment.
  • The ability to use basic inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, and comparators.
  • Basic computer skills to navigate intranet and locate process documents.
  • The ability to read and interpret work instructions and basic prints and dimensions.

Nice-to-haves

  • GED or High School diploma preferred but not required.
