About the position
The Tool & Die Maker position at Atkore International is a full-time role based in Wayne, MI, specifically for the 2nd shift. The role involves making and maintaining various tools, dies, and fixtures, with a focus on ensuring quality and safety in manufacturing processes. Responsibilities
- Diagnose and troubleshoot machine assemblies to perform necessary repairs on tools, manually-operated dies, and progressive dies
- Ensure accuracy of work performed by conducting test runs on tools and/or dies to ensure all components meet specifications
- Make adjustments to work performed when needed
- Independently select the proper metals and materials to meet project specifications
- Set up and operate both conventional and CNC machine tools
- Interface with internal and external customers to ensure demands are being met
- Complete all paperwork, transactions, tags, etc. accurately
- Adhere to all Life Saving Rules, including Lock-Out, Tag-Out (LOTO), Machine Guarding/Bypassing Safety Controls, and Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) safety protocols
- Ensure Safety, Delivery, Quality, and Cost metrics are met daily
- Support 5S initiatives in assigned work areas
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED
- 1 - 3 years of manufacturing experience preferred
- 3 - 5 years experience in Tool & Die making preferred
- Experience using CAD and CNC software preferred
- Basic math and verbal skills
- Excellent technical skills, including the ability to problem-solve and troubleshoot mechanical issues
- Ability to learn to use and maintain equipment and machinery
- Flexibility of shift scheduling, including overtime and weekends
