About the position
The Toolmaker at ADVICS Manufacturing Ohio Inc. is responsible for the set-up, operation, and maintenance of various machines, particularly focusing on CNC Milling. This role involves machining parts according to precise specifications, collaborating with teams to enhance processes, and ensuring the quality of manufactured components for automotive braking systems.
Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and maintain machines such as Surface Grinder, CNC Milling Machine, CNC Machining Center (ProtoTRAK), and Lathe.
- Machine parts according to blueprints, CAD, and working drawings, holding tolerances to +/- 0.025mm.
- Analyze specifications and select proper materials for parts, fixtures, and special tools.
- Assist in the design, modification, or creation of parts, fixtures, and special tools.
- Maintain and properly use precision measuring equipment.
- Collaborate with different teams to resolve issues and improve processes; interact with customers and suppliers.
- Assist with purchase orders, equipment purchases, and repair planning.
- Perform other duties as required, including possible overtime on a daily and/or weekend basis.
Requirements
- Associate's degree preferred.
- 3+ years of relevant experience as a Toolmaker.
- Strong knowledge of CAD/CAM, AutoCAD; Mastercam is a plus.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints.
- Working knowledge of milling various metals, heat treating/welding principles, and their effects on materials and parts design.
- Basic Microsoft Excel skills.
- Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, CAD, or schedule form.
