About the position

As the Tool Room Manager, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing the company's tool assets. This role involves overseeing and directing all Tool Room operations to enhance the efficiency of plant equipment, with a strong emphasis on safety, cost control, and product quality within an automotive manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will possess leadership experience specifically in working with CNC equipment in a manufacturing setting. Your leadership will be crucial in ensuring that the tool room operates smoothly and effectively, contributing to the overall productivity of the plant. In this position, you will maintain an accurate inventory of tools, ensuring that proper stock levels are upheld and that the tool room is organized for easy verification of tool locations. You will oversee the maintenance and repair of all tooling and equipment, ensuring that tools are kept in optimal condition and reporting any instances of abuse. Leading a multi-technical team across multiple shifts, you will ensure open and effective communication within the department and with other departments, external contractors, and vendors. Additionally, you will initiate purchase order requests for component parts and raw materials, conduct risk assessments to uphold high safety standards, and facilitate corrective action and continuous improvement teams. You will also prepare and coordinate tools for outgoing projects, approve associate timecards daily, and ensure the accurate completion of all attendance paperwork. Maintaining a clean and well-organized tool room environment will be a key responsibility in this role.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • 2+ years' experience working with CNC equipment (lathes, mills, etc).
  • Associate's degree or equivalent years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of CNC tooling.
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensions & Tolerance (GD&T) CMM measurements.
  • Experience with tool management software.
  • Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and documentation skills.
  • Team-oriented with strong communication skills and the ability to interact at all levels.
