About the position

The Tool Room Utility Specialist at United Airlines is responsible for managing tools and equipment in the tool room and parts room, ensuring they are properly identified, checked in and out, and maintained. This role supports the Technical Operations team by performing routine maintenance tasks, minor repairs, and surface treatments on aircraft components, contributing to the overall efficiency and safety of the airline's operations.

Responsibilities

• Identify and check tools, test equipment, and certain commodities in and out of the tool room and parts room.
• Service, clean, inventory, store, and account for tools and test equipment used in daily operations.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks of a general nature, such as servicing and transporting equipment.
• Perform minor repairs on food service equipment.
• Conduct surface treatment on engines, aircraft, and component parts using chemicals and sandblasting equipment.
• Cut, size, and form materials for aircraft interiors.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED or equivalent education.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Mechanical proficiency and working knowledge of tools associated with aircraft and/or automotive repair.
• Ability to work with cleaning solutions and chemicals.
• Valid US driver's license (not revoked, suspended, or expired).
• Must pass a 10-year background check.
• Must be willing to take a pre-placement physical abilities test, hearing and vision tests, and drug screen.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
• Flexibility to work any shift in a 24/7 operation, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to clear a fingerprint-based criminal history check for necessary credentials.
