About the position

The Tooling Engineer position at Cutting Edge Machine and Tool involves collaborating with various departments to provide solutions and improvements in tooling needs and tool life. The role emphasizes teamwork, problem-solving, and the application of CAD/CAM programs to enhance machining processes. The engineer will work closely with machinists, engineers, and tool makers to analyze technical materials and support production requirements.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and tool makers to provide tooling solutions and improvements.
• Analyze technical material related to tooling.
• Learn and apply knowledge of machining and materials for product production.
• Utilize SolidWorks and CAD/CAM to produce programs for various departments.
• Support machinists with their tooling needs.
• Partner with the tool crib to track tooling usage and costs.
• Engage with vendors for tooling needs and purchasing solutions.

Requirements

• Previous experience in print reading is expected.
• Understanding of GD&T is desired but not required.
• High level of mechanical aptitude and applied understanding.
• Previous manufacturing, machining, and production experience preferred.
• Self-motivated with a pursuit of continuous learning.
• Ability to collaborate through conflict and develop teamwork skills.
• High level of integrity in work and interactions with departments and customers.
• Desire to solve customer problems through design changes, tooling, and programming.
• Preferred experience with CNC machining.
