About the position

The Tooling Engineer at Actalent will lead the development of processes and new model parts, focusing on optimizing cost and quality. This role involves collaboration with various company activities to meet objectives, providing expertise in progressive part feasibility, and overseeing the design and construction of new model progressive stampings. The engineer will also be responsible for creating CAD developments, conducting PFMEA for new equipment, and maintaining existing process information to incorporate improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of processes and new model parts optimized for cost and quality.
  • Provide knowledgeable liaison of progressive part feasibility, strip layout development, design, construction, tryout and buyoff for new model progressive stampings.
  • Lead the creation of draw CAD Developments and Construction Release Files for new model.
  • Lead the development of Process Failure Modes Effects Analysis (PFMEA's) for new model equipment.
  • Update and maintain existing equipment process information for improvements and modified part releases.
  • Participate in and initiate cost requests for new model costing and evaluation of engineering proposals.
  • Provide primary engineering support to N/C, machining, construction, tryout and buyoff of equipment.
  • Design draw, trim/pierce & flange for current model programs.
  • Check vendor designs for compliance with BOSK requirements using Virtual Verification tools.
  • Review customer feedback and develop corrective actions to improve equipment design quality.
  • Work with customers to improve process and equipment design deliverables.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  • 5+ years of related experience in tooling or die design.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in CAD Draw Development.
  • Proficient in CAD skills, with CATIA V5 preferred.
  • Proficient in reading stamping equipment designs, both manual and CAD.
  • PFMEA proficiency required.
  • MS Office proficiency (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing.
