About the position

The Toolroom Planner at STRATTEC Security Corporation plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient daily operation of the MKE Toolroom. This position is responsible for scheduling toolroom activities, managing inventory, and implementing systems to enhance productivity and quality, thereby supporting the production goals of the organization. The ideal candidate will work closely with toolroom personnel and external resources to optimize delivery and minimize production disruptions.

Responsibilities

  • Planning and analysis of weekly and daily toolroom schedules.
  • Ensure effective communication of schedules & priorities to Toolroom leadership, skilled personnel, and appropriate systems.
  • Optimize delivery using available in-house and outsource resources to ensure production disruption is minimized.
  • Track and analyze delivery to determine if additional capacity is required to meet demand.
  • Identify and resolve toolroom scheduling errors or deficiencies.
  • Analyze delivery data with the team to identify and eliminate high occurrence events that negatively impact delivery.
  • Coordinate with suppliers for the procurement of new tools or the repair of existing ones.
  • Implement and monitor KANBAN for critical tooling components and measure compliance.
  • Apply a continuous improvement mindset to optimize toolroom operating procedures in collaboration with Toolroom leadership and team.
  • Maintain a detailed inventory of tools and equipment with the Toolroom Supervisor.
  • Initiate Purchasing Requisitions for the department.
  • Assist in budget preparation for tool room operations and monitor expenditures.

Requirements

  • A minimum of two years of experience within a toolroom or job shop setting or five years of experience in production planning, operations, purchasing, and/or warehousing.
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Engineering, Metal Working, or related field preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite, especially MS Excel.
  • Strong communication skills to influence others.
  • Ability to manage multiple deliverables in a complex environment.
  • Proficiency with MRP/ERP/AS400/Kanban tools preferred.
