About the position

As a Tools Product Development Manager at United Rentals, you will serve as the primary point of contact for Tools & Industrial products and services, providing essential support to our internal sales team. This role requires you to be a subject matter expert in Tools & Industrial Solutions, offering consultative selling, training for internal customers, and project support for both new and existing product lines. Your responsibilities will include educating other business units within the company about the various Tools & Industrial Solutions products and their applications, ensuring that all teams are well-informed and equipped to meet customer needs. In this position, you will focus on expanding the tools market share for the Tools & Industrial division within your assigned districts or geography. You will collaborate closely with Strategic Account Managers, Government Account Managers, National Account Managers, and local Sales Representatives to provide tailored solutions and services to larger customers. Your expertise will be crucial during complex sales calls, where you will assist Sales Representatives in selecting the most cost-effective solutions for our customers. Additionally, you will be responsible for developing and conducting training sessions on Tools & Industrial Solutions to raise awareness and drive growth in market share. Working in conjunction with corporate sales and business intelligence teams, you will help generate leads for sales representatives using various information tools such as SFDC, Dodge, and PEC. Other duties may be assigned as needed, making this a dynamic and engaging role within the company.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a single point of contact for Tools & Industrial products and services to support the internal sales team.
  • Provide consultative selling and training for internal customers and sales project support for customers.
  • Target and focus on the development of tools market share for the Tools & Industrial division within assigned geography.
  • Collaborate with Strategic Account Managers, Government Account Managers, National Account Managers, and local Sales Representatives to provide custom solutions.
  • Accompany Sales Representatives on complex sales calls and assist in selecting proper solutions for customers.
  • Develop and conduct training on Tools & Industrial Solutions to drive growth and market share.
  • Assist corporate sales/business intelligence in providing leads to sales representatives using SFDC, Dodge, PEC, and other tools.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • 7+ years of solutions selling experience, preferably in the industrial sector.
  • Firm working knowledge of existing and upcoming Tools & Industrial Solutions products/applications and their use in the rental market.
  • Current valid driver's license with a safe driving record and the ability to travel 80% of the time within assigned territory.
  • Strategic selling and advanced negotiation and customer service skills.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, presentation, and research skills.
  • Ability to assess, quote, and secure large projects through solution-based selling.
  • Proficient with SFDC, Dodge, PEC, or other CRM software; proficiency with MS Office (specifically Word and Excel).
