About the position

TikTok is the leading destination for short-form mobile video, and our mission is to inspire creativity and bring joy. As part of this mission, we are building Effect House, the official Augmented Reality (AR) creation tool for TikTok. This platform is designed to empower creators by providing them with the tools they need to develop engaging and innovative effects that can reach TikTok's global community of over a billion users. The Creative Effects team plays a crucial role in enhancing the TikTok experience, making content creation easy and fun through various effects that inspire new trends and creativity. In this role, you will be responsible for crafting the technology that enables intuitive effect development and design. This includes building advanced interactions and visual scripting tools that our creators can use to experiment and create immersive effects. You will focus on developing a unified algorithm system that delivers cutting-edge AR algorithms to various TikTok products, enhancing the AR interactive experience for hundreds of millions of users worldwide. Your work will directly contribute to the mission of inspiring user creativity with powerful creation tools, and you will be at the forefront of innovation in the AR space. As a member of the Effect House team, you will collaborate closely with our effect creator community and internal production teams, providing robust support to help them realize their creative visions. Responsibilities

• Design and implement innovative features for TikTok's Effect House, the platform's special effects editor.
• Provide robust support to our rapidly growing effect creator community and internal effect production team, enabling them to realize their creative vision.

Requirements

• Deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, and native programming (C++, multi-threading, memory management).
• Solid experience in system design, particularly in the context of UI/UX for creative tools.

Nice-to-haves

• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or related field with 2 years of software development experience, with a strong emphasis on game engine technology, computer graphics, AR/VR, game development, or simulation.
• Familiarity with game engines (Unity/Unreal) and real-time rendering, animation, and VFX pipelines.
• Capability in developing cross-platform solutions (macOS, Windows, iOS, Android) and web technologies (React, JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js).
• Experience in developing developer-facing APIs, plugins, or libraries.
• Experience in AR/VR projects and proficiency with graphics APIs (OpenGL, WebGL, DirectX, Metal, Vulkan).
• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
• A quick learner, able to rapidly adapt to new challenges and solve complex problems with wit and ingenuity.
• A strong passion for user experience, augmented reality, and a commitment to crafting innovative and creative solutions.
• Keen interest in TikTok and its community of creators.
