About the position

The Top Hand is responsible for managing and running the crew on top of communication towers. This role involves assisting in the construction, installation, and maintenance of these towers while ensuring safety and quality standards are met. The Top Hand collaborates closely with the Foreman to deliver projects on time and to specification, often working in challenging outdoor conditions.

Responsibilities

• Run and manage the crew on top of the tower.
• Assist in the construction, installation, and maintenance of communications towers.
• Collaborate with the Foreman to ensure timely and high-quality project delivery.
• Climb cell towers up to 400ft as required.
• Lift and handle equipment weighing up to 50lbs.
• Test new and existing equipment as needed.
• Install antennas, RRH's, ground kits, and RET systems.
• Modify sector mounts, T-Booms, platforms, and banding of monopoles.
• Install Ice Bridges and troubleshoot RRU/BBU equipment on towers.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of Top Hand experience.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Valid First Aid Certification.
• Ability to pass drug screen and background check.
• General knowledge of hand tools and basic tower rigging techniques.
• Proficient in coax and fiber routing/handling.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in rigging and tower climbing techniques.
• Knowledge of safety hazards associated with tower climbing and construction equipment.
