About the position

The Top Secret Sr. Network Engineer position at Insight Global is a critical role that requires a highly skilled individual to maintain and manage multiple computing environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying network requirements, installing necessary upgrades, monitoring network performance, and ensuring consistency in network configurations. This role demands a strong understanding of both local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN), as well as the ability to implement and manage intranets, extranets, and other data networks effectively. In this position, the engineer will maintain network availability across various networking environments by administering Cisco campus-based switching environments that utilize both fiber-based and copper-based Ethernet connectivity, specifically at 1 gigabit and 10 gigabit speeds. The role involves installing, managing, and maintaining Cisco switching components to support campus, WAN, and distributed core architectures. The engineer will work with Cisco chassis-based systems, internet circuit termination equipment, and advanced Cisco management tools to ensure optimal network performance. Additionally, the engineer will manage Cisco Prime Infrastructure, analyzing network health, workflow, access, information, and security requirements. This includes performing router and switch administration, interface configuration, and managing switching protocols. A working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, 802.1x, ACLs, ARP, RADIUS, IPv6, DHCP, Intrusion Prevention, and Authentication is essential for this role. The engineer will also be responsible for maintaining and monitoring core backbone network services, identifying network connectivity requirements, performing network upgrades, and managing wired network connections and backbone infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain multiple computing environments by identifying network requirements and installing upgrades.
  • Monitor network performance and manage network configuration consistency.
  • Implement local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), intranets, extranets, and other data networks.
  • Administer Cisco campus-based switching environments with fiber-based and copper-based Ethernet connectivity (1gig and 10gig).
  • Install, manage, and maintain Cisco switching components to support campus, WAN, and distributed core architectures.
  • Work with Cisco chassis-based systems, internet circuit termination equipment, and advanced Cisco management tools.
  • Manage Cisco Prime Infrastructure and analyze network health, workflow, access, information, and security requirements.
  • Perform router/switch administration, interface configuration, and manage switching protocols.
  • Maintain and monitor core backbone network services in multiple computing environments by identifying network connectivity requirements and performing network upgrades.

Requirements

  • Must have an active T5 Investigation open or Top-Secret Clearance.
  • Current Sec+ Certification is required.
  • IAT Level II compliance is necessary.
  • Strong background in Cisco switching and TCP/IP protocol analysis is essential.
  • 8-10 years of previous experience in networking, IT, or related fields is required.
  • Familiarity with researching communication networks is important.
  • Active CCNA or CCNP certification is preferred.
