About the position

The Production Supervisor is a hands-on leader responsible for overseeing all activities related to safety, quality, cost, and employee morale on the production floor during the second shift. This role requires a strong presence in production areas, with at least 80% of the time spent directly supporting operations. The supervisor will lead a team, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards while fostering a positive work environment. The position reports to the Production Manager and involves direct supervision of production employees.

Responsibilities

  • Be a Safety role model for the Operations Team with a Safety-First mindset.
  • Lead as a Champion of Quality ensuring that the principles of Quality Assurance are never compromised.
  • Spend over 80% of the shift on the production floor supporting employees and providing direction.
  • Lead daily shift huddle meetings, S.I.C. meetings, safety and quality audits.
  • Support and implement all continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support the training and development of employees.
  • Maintain a positive work environment to promote safety, housekeeping, and human relations.
  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local laws, corporate policies, and facility policies.
  • Support R&D and QA line trials of new products or special runs.
  • Coordinate with the maintenance team for set-up or repairs as needed.
  • Utilize timekeeping software to create employee schedules and approve timecards and PTO requests.
  • Continuously monitor line performance ensuring product meets customer quality expectations.
  • Ensure direct reports complete monthly safety training in a timely manner.
  • Complete EOS report accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Promote Safety standards and investigate all safety incidents.
  • Monitor changeovers, setup, and teardown to ensure safety and timeliness.
  • Ensure compliance with all GMP, Food Safety, and Plant Safety rules.

Requirements

  • Supervisory experience in a food manufacturing setting.
  • Over 3 years' experience in a management or supervisory role.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred but not required.
  • Experience leading Root Cause Analysis exercises.
  • Bilingual - Spanish or Hindi is a plus.
  • Experience with Microsoft Works.
  • Experience working with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Experience with quality and hygiene requirements in food manufacturing.
  • Experience leading employees in a food production environment.
  • Strong management, leadership, organizational, and scheduling skills.
  • Experience working in a production environment with USDA, FDA, and other regulated products.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to deal with stressful situations common in a manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to work long hours and weekends as needed.

  • Bilingual - Spanish or Hindi is a plus.
