About the position

The position is responsible for managing the design, implementation, administration, communication, and ongoing evaluation of the organization's compensation and benefit programs. The role ensures that these programs align with the organization's business objectives and comply with legal requirements. Key responsibilities include overseeing compensation processes, managing benefits planning, and ensuring compliance with federal regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Administers all compensation cycles including annual salary increases, union rate increases, annual incentives, and quarterly spot bonuses.
  • Prepares and maintains job descriptions for each position in the organization.
  • Interviews and surveys employees and managers to gather job-related information.
  • Assesses jobs to determine classification as exempt or nonexempt and appropriate salary range.
  • Benchmarks jobs against survey data to determine competitive compensation ranges.
  • Prepares and presents summary reports of job analysis and compensation analysis information.
  • Keeps current on applicable state and federal employment regulations that impact compensation policies.
  • Collaborates with Payroll, HR, and the business to synchronize compensation processes with departmental objectives.
  • Responds to employee inquiries related to health and welfare plans and leave of absence programs.
  • Establishes and directs internal audits and controls to maintain data integrity.
  • Monitors compliance with federal regulatory requirements and analyzes new legislation.
  • Maintains and updates plan documents and summary plan descriptions for health and welfare plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws, such as FMLA and ADA.
  • Knowledge of building salary scales and benefits packages.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Access.
