About the position
The Grader position at Strategic Education, Inc. involves evaluating submitted student work for content, competency, and adherence to grading rubrics. The role emphasizes efficiency and quality in grading while providing constructive feedback to students. Graders will collaborate with course leads and participate in calibration efforts to ensure consistent quality in evaluations.
Responsibilities
- Accurately read and measure student performance against a grading rubric.
- Collaboratively work with the Lead for the course(s) to provide constructive, supportive, and concise feedback to students.
- Complete grading rubrics and leave detailed feedback and comments for learners.
- Check student submissions for plagiarism and grammar issues.
- Provide in-context feedback and scoring using the Sophia-provided rubric.
- Participate in calibration efforts to ensure consistency of quality for learners.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required; Master's degree is preferred.
- Current or prior HS or Post-secondary teaching experience in IT/Coding/Computer Science (Java, Python, Web Development).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Subject matter competency in relevant fields.
- Prioritization and time management skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exhibit sound judgment in decision-making.
- Ability to keep accurate records and strong computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
