About the position

As a Tower Technician III at MasTec Communications Group, you will play a crucial role in installing, maintaining, and operating various telecommunications equipment and systems. This position emphasizes safety and quality service, contributing to the expansion of technology in the community. You will be involved in hands-on work, climbing towers, and mentoring less experienced technicians while adhering to industry standards and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and operate wired, wireless, fiber optic, and microwave telecommunications equipment and systems.
  • Understand and implement MasTec Communications Group Health Safety and Environmental Policies.
  • Understand and implement industry standards such as OSHA, TIA10-48, NATE CTS, and ANSI.
  • Climb towers and ladders at various heights.
  • Conduct erection of various tower types.
  • Off-load material and inventory.
  • Prepare and clean sites.
  • Install new carriers on new build and existing towers.
  • Assist in tower erection using helicopters, cranes, and gin poles.
  • Assist in the assembly of monopole, all weld and knock down self-support and guyed towers.
  • Assist in the antenna installation of microwave parabolic antennas, VHF, UHF, cellular, and FM broadcast antennas.
  • Assist in the transmission line installation of foam/air dielectric coaxial, hardline, and elliptical waveguide.
  • Assist in the installation of all aspects of site foundations, grounding, and conduits, with electrical installations where applicable.
  • Serve as a mentor to new less experienced technicians.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Degree.
  • Minimum of 4 years of tower experience.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and carry out instructions per prints.
  • Possess working knowledge of safety standards and regulations.
  • Ability to climb towers and pick up 50 lbs.
  • Capable of working up to 12 hours.
  • Valid driver's license and driving record meeting company policy conditions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Possession of a PWSA certification is a plus.
