About the position

The Town Accountant for Lakeville is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the town, ensuring compliance with Massachusetts General Laws and accounting standards. This role requires a strong background in municipal accounting and involves managing financial reporting, budgeting, and auditing processes.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with Massachusetts General Laws and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) regulations.
• Prepare and maintain financial statements and reports in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Manage the town's budget and financial planning processes.
• Oversee the accounting functions of the town, including accounts payable and receivable.
• Coordinate audits and ensure timely completion of financial audits.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
• Three to seven years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, with at least three years in municipal accounting.
• Massachusetts Certified Governmental Accountant certification preferred.
