About the position

Town and Gardens Ltd is a national award-winning landscape design-build firm seeking a Landscape Designer/Project Manager for immediate hire in our installation department. This position is a unique opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual who is team-oriented and possesses the ability to manage projects from concept through design to the completion of installation. The ideal candidate will have relevant experience in designing and managing high-end urban landscape projects, making this role perfect for those interested in the hands-on aspects of design and project management within the design-build model. As a Landscape Designer/Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire project lifecycle, ensuring that each phase is executed efficiently and meets the high standards of our firm. You will work closely with field staff, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure that all aspects of the project are aligned with the design vision and client expectations. Your role will also involve client management, sales, estimating, and budgeting, requiring a discerning eye for good landscape and hardscape design, as well as the ability to create graphically sophisticated presentations. The position requires a strong understanding of landscape installation and construction management, familiarity with building submissions, and the ability to work within building guidelines. You will be expected to lead a project team, delegate tasks appropriately, and maintain excellent communication with all stakeholders throughout the project. This role is ideal for someone with a degree in landscape design, landscape architecture, or architecture, and a minimum of five years of experience in designing and project managing urban landscape projects.

Responsibilities

  • Manage landscape projects from concept through design to installation completion.

Requirements

  • Degree in landscape design, landscape architecture, or architecture.
  • Minimum five years of experience in designing and project managing urban landscape projects.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to lead a project team and delegate work appropriately.
  • Familiarity with estimating and bidding processes.
  • Knowledge of NYC building code and regulations.
  • Good understanding of landscape construction methods, materials, and processes.
  • Prior experience in urban landscape design, installation, and/or management.
  • Familiarity with CAD or Vectorworks, Sketchup, and Adobe Creative Suite.
