The Toxic Tort Asbestos Paralegal position is a permanent role based in California, offering a unique opportunity to work on complex litigation cases. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in asbestos litigation and will be responsible for managing multiple cases, drafting legal documents, and collaborating with attorneys to support strategic decision-making. This role emphasizes both independent work and teamwork within a dynamic legal environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Complex Cases: Handle multiple intricate litigation matters simultaneously, demonstrating your ability to juggle priorities effectively.
  • Monitor and Assess: Keep a close eye on case filings and provide comprehensive assessments to our attorneys to support strategic decision-making.
  • Draft Legal Documents: Prepare initial drafts of various pre-trial motions, dispositive motions, and other legal pleadings with precision and clarity.
  • Evaluate Discovery Documents: Review and analyze essential discovery materials including medical records, sales documents, and employment records to build strong cases.
  • Compose Case Assessments: Create thorough case evaluations for review by associates and partners, contributing to our team's collaborative success.
  • Manage Billable Time: Ensure accurate and timely accounting of your billable hours for seamless project management.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years in asbestos litigation is essential.
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Exceptional organizational abilities to manage complex tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with attorneys and fellow paralegals, fostering teamwork and achieving shared goals.
  • Ability to work autonomously while also contributing positively to a larger team dynamic.
  • Proactive approach to identifying challenges and devising effective solutions.
  • Familiarity with legal systems such as Westlaw, File & Serve Xpress, and PACER is preferred.
