About the position
The Senior Designer will lead the development of innovative packaging and visual designs for a toy company, ensuring alignment with brand standards and goals. This role involves overseeing the creative process for both print and 3D packaging, managing projects, mentoring junior staff, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to shape the visual direction of new product lines.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the creation of designs for trade events, retail exhibitions, public relations, and other activities as needed.
- Handle projects related to packaging, design, and retail displays that range from moderate to intricate in complexity.
- Take charge of packaging design within designated categories, ensuring adherence to all branding and creative standards to meet quality, design, and production expectations.
- Guarantee that packaging and graphic designs align with the brand's quality standards and branding goals.
- Develop and deliver presentation materials from concept to execution.
- Collaborate with structural engineers to create packaging designs that are both effective and cost-efficient.
- Direct the visual style of photo shoots and lead the design direction for new sub-brands.
- Gather and coordinate all required inputs from cross-functional teams, including Quality Assurance, Product Development, Marketing, Photo Studio, and Editorial, to effectively lead and complete photo shoots on schedule.
- Provide mentorship to junior design team members.
- Coordinate and oversee all packaging project timelines with essential partners.
Requirements
- 3-5+ years of experience within the toy industry and experience with package design.
- Proficient in Illustrator, Photoshop, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- A professional design portfolio displaying your prior experience in design.
- Comprehensive understanding of design principles, including illustration, page layout, color theory, and typography.
- Skilled in designing for print and 3D packaging production, as well as leading the creative process.
- A strong interest in the Toy packaging sector is highly desirable.
