About the position

The Data Analyst III (Business Intelligence Analyst) at the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is responsible for managing and analyzing data to support the department's mission of conserving Texas's natural and cultural resources. This role involves utilizing advanced analytical techniques to provide insights that enhance decision-making and improve operational efficiency within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze complex data sets to identify trends and patterns that support decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain business intelligence tools and dashboards for data visualization.
  • Collaborate with various departments to gather data requirements and ensure data integrity.
  • Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings to stakeholders.
  • Provide training and support to staff on data analysis tools and methodologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in data analysis or business intelligence roles.
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Experience with SQL and database management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the public sector or with government agencies.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis software such as R or Python.
  • Knowledge of GIS (Geographic Information Systems) tools.
