About the position

Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, this position performs complex (journey-level) building maintenance and construction work including the daily operation and maintenance of park facilities, grounds, and equipment for Lake Brownwood State Park. Serves as the Back-Up Utility Plant Operator (UPO) and assists in the operation, maintenance, and repairs to the Water Distribution System and Wastewater Systems. Responsible for regulatory compliance in all utility operations and completion of required reports and laboratory testing as required by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD). Operates all types of equipment such as trucks, tractors, mowers, and power tools. Provides quality visitor services by providing information, and assistance to visitors. Assists in enforcing park rules and regulations, performs resource management tasks, and interprets the parks natural resources. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Graduation from High School or GED.
  • Three years of facility, equipment, or grounds maintenance experience.
  • Must possess a valid State driver's license at the time of hire.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain, within one year of employment, a class 'D' Water License and a class 'C' Wastewater license issued by TCEQ.

Nice-to-haves

  • Water and wastewater experience.
  • Current class 'D' Water License and a Class 'C' Wastewater license issued by TCEQ.
