The Maintenance Specialist III (Operations Ranger) position at the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is a full-time role responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of park facilities, grounds, and equipment at Lake Colorado City State Park. Under the direction of the Lead Ranger, the individual will operate various types of equipment, including power mowers, electric and power tools, tractors, trucks, and other gasoline, diesel, electrical, and manual tools. The role involves routine cleaning of buildings, cabins, restrooms, and grounds maintenance, ensuring that the park facilities are well-maintained and meet public expectations. In addition to maintenance duties, the Operations Ranger will assist with the enforcement of park rules and regulations, provide customer service, issue permits, and assist with administrative tasks such as taking deposits, counting cash drawers, and preparing park reports. The position also includes assisting other staff with park maintenance functions and supporting interpretative programs, exhibits, tours, and educational programs. The role requires working under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment, and the individual will be expected to comply with all agency, division, and branch rules, regulations, and procedures. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in facility, equipment, or grounds maintenance, with a minimum of three years of relevant experience. The position requires a valid class “C” Texas driver's license if driving is necessary. The candidate should also possess knowledge of basic plumbing, carpentry, electrical, masonry, janitorial, and mechanical maintenance techniques, as well as skills in using various tools and equipment. The ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and provide quality customer service is essential for success in this role.
