About the position

The Maintenance Supervisor II at Texas Parks and Wildlife is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, maintenance, and repair of facilities, grounds, and equipment within Goliad State Park. This senior-level supervisory role involves managing a team, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing high-quality customer service while maintaining park facilities and grounds.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operation, maintenance, and repair of facilities, grounds, and equipment within the State Park.
  • Coordinate work schedules and duties for classified, hourly, and volunteer staff.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of facilities and grounds, including mowing, trimming, and garbage collection.
  • Enforce park rules and regulations and prepare reports and record keeping.
  • Operate and maintain various types of equipment including hand tools, power tools, mowers, tractors, and trucks.
  • Manage financial functions related to maintenance and repair budgets and purchasing activities.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance in all utility operations required by TCEQ and TPWD.
  • Assist with park and department safety programs and distribute herbicides/pesticides as needed.

Requirements

  • Graduation from High School or GED.
  • Four years of facility, equipment, or grounds maintenance experience.
  • Two years of supervisory or team leader experience, which may include oversight of paid staff, volunteers, or alternate workforce.
  • Possess a valid State driver's license.
  • Must obtain a Non-Commercial Pesticide Applicator License within 1 year of employment.
  • Must obtain a Class D Water and Wastewater license within 1 year of employment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with a wide range of construction, repair, and maintenance-related fields including management of Water and Wastewater Systems.
  • Experience in project management and oversight of complex operations with changing priorities.
  • Experience in customer service and/or public relations.
  • Experience in purchasing methods and procedures.
  • Current Wastewater Class D license issued by TCEQ.
