About the position

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is seeking a Program Specialist IV to serve as the State Parks Marketing Coordinator. This position is under the direction of the Marketing and Brand Manager and is responsible for performing highly complex consultative services and technical assistance work. The role involves product and literature design, printing, production, and inventory coordination. The selected candidate will coordinate the planning, purchasing, stocking, fulfillment, and distribution of promotional and operational literature and products for public and agency use. This includes researching and ordering park promotional products, monitoring production schedules, and communicating with park staff and management regarding project statuses and completion dates. In addition to product coordination, the position encompasses inventory management, including assigning inventory numbers and monitoring stock movement and fulfillment of park literature and other documents. The role also involves identifying cooperative purchasing opportunities and assisting with park promotions. The Program Specialist IV will maintain accounting records, manage budget allocations, and perform cost analyses. The position operates under limited supervision, allowing for moderate latitude in the use of initiative and independent judgment. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary, and compliance with all agency rules and regulations is required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform highly complex consultative services and technical assistance work.
  • Coordinate the planning, purchasing, stocking, fulfillment, and distribution of promotional and operational literature and products.
  • Research and order park promotional products, monitoring their production and procurement schedules.
  • Communicate with park field and headquarters staff regarding project statuses and completion dates.
  • Manage inventory by assigning inventory numbers and monitoring stock movement and fulfillment.
  • Identify and coordinate cooperative purchasing opportunities and assist with park promotions.
  • Maintain accounting, costs, and expenditure records, managing budget allocations and performing cost analyses.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree.
  • Two years of experience in marketing, communications, park business environment, or a related field.
  • Possession or ability to obtain a Texas class C driver's license within 30 days of employment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or a closely related field.
  • Five years of experience in promotions, marketing, communications, park business environment, or a related field.
  • Experience with illustrative, photographic, and/or audiovisual content editing and production.
  • Experience in a park or recreation agency environment.
  • Experience in project management.
