Requirements

  • Able to work in the US without company sponsorship now AND in the future
  • 21 years of age or older
  • Ability to report for duty at the designated work location
  • Able to read, write and communicate (speak, hear and understand) in English
  • Able to work safely in the above working conditions
  • Able to work the above shift/hours
  • Able to meet the above travel requirements
  • Able to lift and carry up to 60 lbs occasionally
  • Possess a valid Class A CDL with HAZMAT and air-brake endorsements or be able to obtain one within first 60 days of employment
  • Able to visually distinguish colors - red, blue, green, yellow, lunar (clear light)
  • Ability to discriminate and differentiate between verbal and non-verbal sounds (signals, alarms, etc.) in the work environment
  • Able to use hands and hand tools to perform activities involving holding, grasping, turning, and pulling
  • Occasionally climb on/off equipment
  • Able to bend, walk, stand, sit for extended periods of time

Responsibilities

  • Transporting crew and equipment
  • Track maintenance
  • Vehicle operation
  • Track construction labor
  • Inspection and repair
  • Equipment maintenance
  • Vehicle housekeeping
  • Safe operation of 26K+ lb trucks
  • Coordinating with vendors for truck and equipment maintenance
  • Repair and rebuild railroad track
  • Perform maintenance by pulling spikes, cutting, welding, or drilling rail
  • Maintain a clean right of way by removing hazards such as brush, trees, vegetation, litter, and cargo spillage
  • Manually compress ballast
  • Remove/install ties and replace, cut, and adjust rail
  • Lift and carry materials with assistance
  • Use power hand tools such as electric, pneumatic, or hydraulic as well as non-powered hand tools
