About the position

The Trade Compliance Manager at Alfa Laval Inc. is responsible for ensuring compliance with global customs regulations. This role involves overseeing customs filings, HTS alignment, and managing trade compliance processes while coordinating with international personnel. The position also includes developing and maintaining export procedures and compliance manuals, as well as managing the daily operations of the trade compliance team.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with applicable customs regulations globally.
• Oversee and improve processes for customs filings and HTS alignment.
• Manage Foreign Trade Zones and preferential trade agreements.
• Coordinate with personnel in international locations.
• Build a network of regional experts for global compliance needs.
• Establish global practices in compliance with regulations and company policy.
• Maintain company import procedures and the Customs Compliance Manual.
• Oversee daily operations of the trade compliance team.
• Develop and maintain export procedures and the Export Compliance Manual.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Licensed US Customs Broker.
• Minimum 5 years' experience with import/export activities and USHTS processes.
• Extensive knowledge of US Import, FTZ, and Export policies and procedures.
• Understanding of US Customs CFR, EAR, and HTS.
• Skilled in developing audit procedures for compliance reviews.
• Ability to develop short- and long-range project planning.
• Effective communication skills with diverse internal groups.
• Collaborative work style with business leaders, government officials, and carriers.
• Strong organizational, time management, and computer skills.

Nice-to-haves

• 3-5 years of experience in the export company or freight forwarding industry, preferably in international logistics and transportation.
