About the position

The Trade Compliance Program Manager at Western Digital will oversee and enhance the company's customs compliance programs, ensuring adherence to regulations and supporting business operations. This role involves managing policies, procedures, and guidance related to customs and export compliance, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to mitigate risks and improve compliance processes.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the development of SOPs and training for customs and import compliance processes.
  • Manage customs registrations, licenses, reconciliation, and drawback programs.
  • Monitor and assess the impact of local and global customs changes and related laws.
  • Contribute to ERP and business systems enhancements related to Trade controls.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to align on Customs and Trade requirements.
  • Provide compliance information and guidance to internal business partners.
  • Coordinate with customs brokers, logistics providers, and government agencies to resolve issues.
  • Support oversight and enhancement of export control programs.
  • Oversee the accuracy and retention of Trade records, conducting regular audits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; Brokers License preferred.
  • 8+ years of direct import and export compliance experience, preferably in the semiconductor or technology industry.
  • Solid understanding of Section 301 Tariffs, Reconciliation programs, HTS and ECCN classifications.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Customs Regulations, Valuations policies, and US export controls.
  • Proven experience with Trade classifications and conducting trade compliance risk assessments.
  • Proficiency in Oracle GTM and familiarity with Salesforce; tech-savvy with systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and record retention skills.
  • Ability to work in a global, cross-functional, multi-cultural team environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
