About the position

The Trade Compliance Specialist will support the Clients Global Trade classification program, focusing on customs and trade compliance for imports in the US and Canada. This role involves conducting classification analysis, maintaining tariff numbers, and ensuring compliance with government regulations. The position is hybrid, requiring three days a week onsite in either Austin, TX or San Jose, CA, and is offered as a 12-month contract.

Responsibilities

• Support the Clients Global Trade classification program and other classification teams globally.
• Conduct classification analysis to arrive at an accurate HTS using various trade tools.
• Maintain & monitor previous part classifications in SAP-GTS to ensure consistent and valid tariff numbers.
• Monitor, measure and develop reports with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
• Evaluate new government requirements and partner with regional teams to ensure import compliance.
• Perform global classification and duty analysis on clients products.
• Lead global classification audits and root cause any errors.
• Manage classification specific projects as assigned.
• Create and maintain process and procedures.
• Create effective and clear communication with stakeholders.

Requirements

• 6+ years in customs/trade compliance managing large import compliance programs for professional service / fortune 500 / high tech companies.
• Experience with classification of imports for US and Canada.
• Experience dealing with external vendors on a regular basis (carriers, transportation companies, etc.).
• Proficiency in leveraging Excel and SAP (or other large ERP systems) for classification and driving KPI/data analysis.
