About the position

The Trade Planner - Structural position at Fincantieri Marinette Marine is a critical role within the Production Planning & Control department. This position is responsible for supporting production by acting as the representative of the planning team. The Planner will identify work order requirements using various systems such as IMS and Baan, and will monitor the completion of these work orders, expediting them as necessary to ensure timely production. The role involves initiating, preparing, estimating, and releasing work orders, ensuring their completeness, and delivering them to manufacturing supervision according to the production schedule. In addition to managing work orders, the Planner will be responsible for ordering and status tracking of materials needed to meet work order requirements. This includes identifying shortages and collaborating with the Warehouse and Purchasing departments to resolve any material issues. The Planner must prioritize and sequence work orders based on schedule, criticality, and material availability, distributing tasks to foremen accordingly. Regular monitoring and reporting of performance by work order and work center is essential, as is effective communication of problems and priorities to the Planning and Scheduling teams. The Planner will also work closely with Manufacturing Management and Scheduling to determine when changes to work sequences are necessary, aiming to limit such changes whenever possible. Collaboration with manufacturing management, trades, and industrial engineers is crucial to document, implement, and standardize best practices across work centers, ultimately improving process performance. Additionally, the Planner will develop and maintain accurate budgeting parameters for the responsible SWBS (Ship Work Breakdown Structure). This role requires adherence to organizational policies and procedures, emphasizing safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
