About the position

Elanco Animal Health is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Trademark Paralegal to join our dynamic Intellectual Property (IP) team. This position will primarily focus on global portfolio brand management, ensuring the protection and enforcement of Elanco's brands and marks worldwide. As a global leader in animal health, Elanco is dedicated to innovation and delivering products and services to prevent and treat disease in farm animals and pets. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of trademark law and procedures, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. In this role, you will assist the Senior Assistant General Counsel - Intellectual Property & Brand Management in executing the company's brand enforcement strategies and initiatives. You will manage Elanco's global trademark portfolio, overseeing trademark searches, filings, registrations, and renewals with precision. Coordination with outside counsel and trademark agents will be essential to ensure efficient prosecution of trademark applications and maintain compliance. Additionally, you will conduct thorough trademark clearance searches and deliver risk assessments for new brand initiatives to mitigate potential legal issues. Drafting and reviewing trademark-related agreements such as license agreements and coexistence agreements will also be part of your responsibilities, ensuring legal clarity and alignment with business goals.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Senior Assistant General Counsel - Intellectual Property & Brand Management in executing company's brand enforcement strategies and initiatives.
  • Manage Elanco's global trademark portfolio, overseeing trademark searches, filings, registrations, and renewals with precision.
  • Coordinate closely with outside counsel and trademark agents to ensure efficient prosecution of trademark applications and maintain compliance.
  • Conduct thorough trademark clearance searches and deliver risk assessments for new brand initiatives to mitigate potential legal issues.
  • Draft and review trademark-related agreements such as license agreements and coexistence agreements, ensuring legal clarity and alignment with business goals.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree or High School Diploma / GED with equivalent level of experience.
  • A minimum of 4-5 years of experience in trademark prosecution and portfolio management, preferably in a global corporate environment or law firm.
  • Trademark prosecution and portfolio management expertise; exceptional organizational skills and detail-oriented and proactive.
