The Trades Specialist (Electrician) position at Thousand Islands involves performing journey-level electrician work, including the repair, maintenance, and installation of electrical systems and equipment. Responsibilities

• Locate and determine electrical malfunctions using test instruments such as ammeter, voltmeter, and ohmmeter.
• Install fixtures, motors, and other electrical equipment; adjust electrical equipment as necessary.
• Plan layout and install or repair wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment.
• Prepare sketches showing the location of all wiring and equipment or follow diagrams or blueprints.
• Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit.
• Connect wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment.
• Install control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit breaker panels.
• Test, adjust, calibrate, and maintain a variety of control equipment, including HVAC systems and refrigeration controls.
• Test continuity of circuits to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components using standard instruments.
• Observe functioning of installed equipment to detect hazards and need for adjustments or replacements.
• Inspect circuits and wiring for specified shielding and grounding; repair or rewire systems according to building codes and safety regulations.
• Repair mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, or electric components of electrical equipment and controls using standard tools and procedures.
• Plan layout and wire new installations; lay out work for staff and perform journey-level tasks as required.

Requirements

• Four years of full-time experience in the electrical trade under a skilled tradesperson, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Successful completion of a two-year Trades Specialist (Electrician) traineeship or equivalent program, including 288 hours of trade-specific classroom instruction and 4,000 hours of on-the-job training.
• Must possess and maintain a valid NYS driver's license and a valid NYS Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B or obtain one within the probationary period.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in heavy equipment operations is preferred but not required.
