About the position

The Trades Training Instructor at Fortitude Careers is responsible for providing high-quality training in construction trades to young adults, ensuring they develop essential skills while adhering to safety protocols. This role emphasizes mentorship and support, fostering a positive learning environment that encourages personal and vocational growth. The instructor will also engage in community service projects and collaborate with a small team to enhance the organization's impact in the local community.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure overall adherence to safety protocols and practices within the training environment.
  • Deliver comprehensive instruction on the construction training curriculum, including carpentry skills and basic introductions to electrical, plumbing, and cement work.
  • Provide guidance on the proper use and handling of all hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment.
  • Maintain an inventory of all tools and equipment used on the job daily.
  • Complete daily job reports detailing participant engagement and accidents, and submit material requisitions to the administrative team.
  • Monitor students' time and assess their progress throughout the training program.
  • Oversee the evaluation process for assessing student knowledge and skills in construction trades.
  • Assist participants with personal and vocational counseling to develop leadership skills and support job search skills development.
  • Lead participants in community service projects to foster a sense of social responsibility.
  • Attend all required meetings and retreats to collaborate with team members and enhance program effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in construction trades.
  • Previous teaching or training experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning atmosphere.
