About the position

We are looking to hire a Software Developer in the Energy/Natural Resources industry, based in Houston, Texas. This role involves working on a Tempest Migration Project to CXL 8, integrating Trading Systems, and providing maintenance and support for existing ETRM Applications. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing software solutions that enhance the performance and functionality of ETRM systems. This position requires collaboration with the team to design, develop, and maintain software, ensuring that all applications meet the necessary standards and requirements. The responsibilities include working on the Tempest Migration Project to CXL 8 to increase bandwidth on the team, handling the integration of Trading Systems with a focus on non-Greenfield Development, and providing maintenance and support for existing ETRM Applications. The developer will also conduct reporting activities using tools such as Tableau or Power BI, participate in Capital Projects related to the enhancement of ETRM Applications, and address software issues to ensure optimal system performance. Additionally, maintaining documentation of software development and subsequent revisions is crucial for this role. The ideal candidate will have proven experience as a Software Developer in the Energy/Natural Resources industry, with proficiency in ETRM systems and a strong understanding of the software development life cycle. Solid knowledge of coding languages such as C++, Java, and JavaScript, as well as frameworks like AngularJS and Git, is essential. Experience with databases and Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) frameworks, such as Hibernate, is also required. The candidate should possess excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Software Developer in the Energy/Natural Resources industry
  • Proficiency in ETRM (Energy Trading and Risk Management) systems
  • Strong understanding of the software development life cycle
  • Solid knowledge of coding languages (e.g. C++, Java, JavaScript) and frameworks/systems (e.g. AngularJS, Git)
  • Experience with databases and Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) frameworks (e.g. Hibernate)
  • Ability to learn new languages and technologies
  • Resourcefulness and troubleshooting aptitude coupled with good communication skills
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
  • Demonstrable portfolio of released applications on the App store or the Android market
  • Experience with a variety of programming languages and development tools
  • Familiarity with network diagnostics and network analytics tools
  • Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application
  • Strong unit test and debugging skills
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git
  • Familiarity with continuous integration
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
