About the position

The Trading Application Support Engineer will provide critical technical support to the trading desk and back-office operations specializing in bond and loan trading. This role is essential for ensuring the smooth operation of trading platforms and requires a candidate who possesses a strong understanding of financial instruments, particularly bonds and loans. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and will have exceptional problem-solving skills. Strong communication skills are necessary to effectively engage with traders, portfolio managers, and operations staff. The support engineer should be a natural team player, capable of collaborating seamlessly with various stakeholders to understand and meet their requirements. In this position, the support engineer will be responsible for providing timely day-to-day support for the trading platform and Business-to-Business integrations. This includes working closely with business users such as traders, portfolio managers, operations staff, analysts, and finance/compliance professionals to perform requirements analysis, application design, and implementation. The role emphasizes maintaining a high standard of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), with a particular focus on automated testing and regression. Additionally, the support engineer will create and maintain a professional-level internal knowledge base and provide training to business users and new joiners. Developing and maintaining compliance tests will also be a key responsibility, along with aligning with and contributing to the culture and overall vision of the team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide timely day-to-day support for the trading platform and Business-to-Business integrations.
  • Work with business users (Traders, PMs, Operations, Analysts, Finance/Compliance professionals, etc.) and perform requirements analysis, application design, and implementation.
  • Ensure a high standard of SDLC with a focus on automated testing/regression.
  • Create and maintain professional-level internal knowledge base.
  • Provide training to business users and new joiners.
  • Develop and maintain compliance tests.
  • Align and add to the culture and overall vision/mission of the team.

Requirements

  • 3+ years or the equivalent of working in the financial industry with a deep understanding or strong potential to pick up financial securities, especially bonds and loans.
  • Prior experience with Everest is strongly desired but not a hard requirement.
  • Strong track record of hands-on SQL Server T-SQL programming experience.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills; detail-oriented.
  • Strong cultural fit - teamwork, proactive/self-starter, results-oriented, and integrity.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Have an 'Own it!' mindset.
  • Prior experience with one or more OO programming languages desired (Python preferred).
  • Experience working with Microsoft SSIS and SSRS.
  • Experience with XML/XPath/XSLT.
  • Experience with a Trading system like Blackrock Aladdin or Charles River.
  • Experience with portfolio accounting systems like Geneva.
  • Active Batch, Control-M, Autosys scheduling.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with financial securities beyond bonds and loans.
  • Familiarity with additional programming languages or tools related to trading systems.
