As a Trading & Operations Analyst, you will be an integral part of Mutual of America Capital Management, which manages approximately $29 billion in assets across various investment strategies. This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation of our funds, requiring collaboration with multiple departments including Investments, Trading, Administration, Business Development, and Compliance. You will be responsible for monitoring trade processing, performing reconciliations for equity and fixed income products, and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of operational processes. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge of fund operations and contribute to the overall success of our investment strategies. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include managing mutual fund investments and trading activities, conducting reconciliations, collaborating with trading and portfolio management teams, preparing client reports, and ensuring data integrity across systems. You will also work closely with Compliance to adhere to regulatory requirements and assist with various operational initiatives. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and eager to contribute to a dynamic team in the financial services industry.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations functions for mutual fund investments and trading activities, including cash and position reconciliation and resolution of trade breaks.
  • Conduct regular reconciliations of positions and cash balances, ensuring accuracy and promptly identifying and resolving discrepancies.
  • Collaborate directly with trading and portfolio management teams to maintain a consistently high level of service for clients.
  • Support the preparation of accurate and timely monthly and quarterly client reports.
  • Respond to inquiries from counterparties, custodians, and brokers in a prompt and professional manner.
  • Ensure data integrity, consistency, and completeness across various systems and databases.
  • Research and process corporate actions across fund portfolios.
  • Work with Compliance to process regulatory filings, monitor internal guidelines, and adhere to external regulations.
  • Assist with special projects, including performance reporting, position reporting, audits, budgeting, invoicing, and other operational initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related degree.
  • 1-3 years' experience in a support role, preferably in Operations or Middle Office.
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills, adept at managing multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal teams and external partners.
  • Strong sense of accountability and ownership, with a track record of delivering results.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft products, including proficiency in Excel (VLOOKUP's, pivots, etc.).

Nice-to-haves

  • Understanding of a wide variety of investment products such as equities and fixed income.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with financial software platforms (Bloomberg, FactSet).
  • Python, SQL, or other coding skills.
