About the position

The Trading Operator Americas at Holcim Trading Inc. is responsible for executing trades from contract conclusion to cash collection, ensuring seamless trade administration with business partners. This hybrid position requires the employee to work both from home and the Coral Gables office, with travel expectations of up to 10%. The role involves managing supply chain schedules, coordinating with various stakeholders, and ensuring the integrity and quality of information provided throughout the trading process.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring smooth and seamless execution of trades administration with Holcim business partners by driving supply chain schedules and daily updates directly with suppliers, customers, ship owners/brokers, port agents, and logistics providers.
  • Tracking cargo, shipping, and multimodal transportation commitments and escalating potential performance issues to internal stakeholders.
  • Ensuring the integrity, timeliness, and quality of information provided to stakeholders through internal checks and controls.
  • Obtaining and issuing documentary/shipping instructions, customs documentation, and inventory documentation with various stakeholders.
  • Ensuring nomination and timely acceptance of vessels in coordination with the Chartering Managers/Shipping department.
  • Implementing measures to mitigate risks, disruptions, and losses related to vessel operations and trade execution.
  • Issuing and controlling laytime calculations and claims with ship owners, suppliers, and customers.
  • Initiating cash in - cash out processes at the transactional level upstream from Finance.
  • Preparing reports and statistics for Team Leaders, Traders, or other internal stakeholders as required.
  • Escalating operational issues to the Team Leader, Trader, or Chartering Manager.
  • Collecting and forwarding customer inquiries to the relevant Trader.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management/Administration, International Trading, or a related field.
  • 4 years of professional experience in trading, shipping, freight forwarding, and supply chain logistics and operations.
  • 3 years of experience with Trade Finance tools (letter of credit, documentary collection, payment terms, and payment instruments).
  • 3 years of experience in the import and export of dry bulk commodities related to the building material industry.
  • 2 years of experience handling container shipments.
  • 2 years of experience with laytime calculations concepts and specific shipping terms.
  • Fluency in English, French, and Spanish.
