The primary responsibility of the Traffic Control personnel is to safely direct pedestrians and vehicular traffic at Arlington National Cemetery (ANC). This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth flow of traffic and maintaining public safety within the cemetery grounds. Traffic Control personnel will be stationed at various positions throughout ANC during its hours of operation, and it is imperative that they remain at their designated areas of responsibility at all times until relieved by other traffic control personnel. This ensures that there is no disruption in traffic management and that safety protocols are consistently upheld. In addition to directing traffic, personnel will provide brief information or directions to visitors, ensuring that their communication does not cause traffic delays or create unnecessary public safety risks. The role requires a strong understanding of safety protocols related to vehicular and pedestrian traffic, as well as the ability to effectively communicate with the public. Traffic Control personnel must be prepared to function outdoors in all types of weather conditions, as this position is year-round and involves constant standing and walking throughout the facility, including traversing long distances, various hills, grades, and different types of terrain.
