About the position

STV is seeking an energetic and highly motivated self-starter Traffic Engineering Specialist to serve as a project engineer within our growing Traffic Practice in Texas. This role involves providing technical services on traffic engineering and design projects, supporting project teams with various traffic studies, and developing final plans and specifications for state and local agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical services on traffic engineering and design projects, including traffic signal design and ITS design.
  • Support the project team with traffic engineering studies such as traffic impact analyses and signal timing plans.
  • Develop final plans, specifications, and estimate (PS&E) documents for various state and local agencies.
  • Prepare written reports and presentations of project results.
  • Assist with mentoring and training of less experienced staff.
  • Integrate into multiple project delivery teams with concurrent and overlapping schedules.
  • Verify compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited Civil Engineering program or related field; Master of Science Degree preferred.
  • Successful completion of the FE exam (EIT Cert); PE license preferred but not required.
  • Experience in traffic engineering including traffic signal design and timing, operational analysis, and capacity analysis.
  • Experience with traffic software such as HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, CORSIM, and SIDRA; transportation planning software experience with TransCAD and CUBE is a plus.
  • Experience with CAD applications such as AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation OpenRoads.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • TxDOT and other Texas City/County experience preferred.
  • Strong verbal and writing skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
