About the position

The Traffic Project Manager at Johnson, Mirmiran, and Thompson Inc. is responsible for delivering all project objectives for assigned traffic engineering projects, ensuring they meet scope, schedule, and budget requirements. This role involves managing traffic analyses, reports, and studies, while also providing oversight and mentoring to project teams. The position requires strong project management skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and team members.

Responsibilities

  • Manage or lead the development of traffic analyses/studies and engineering reports.
  • Plan, schedule, assign staff, and coordinate detailed phases of engineering work.
  • Ensure project completion by defined deadlines while maintaining quality standards.
  • Provide oversight and mentoring of traffic/design engineers.
  • Develop and monitor project scope, pricing, schedules, and budgets.
  • Monitor accounts receivable and manpower requirements, preparing invoices as needed.
  • Manage all technical resources on the project team.
  • Coordinate with Section Heads and Office Managers on marketing proposals.
  • Familiarize with design plans for traffic signals, signing, lighting, and related projects.
  • Develop or assist with Project Management Plans for assigned projects.
  • Manage subconsultants and support Section Heads in developing extra work order requests.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field from an ABET accredited program.
  • 10+ years of experience in traffic engineering or a specialized discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License in Virginia.
  • Project/Task management experience.
  • Proposal development experience (scope/schedule/fee).
  • Experience working with local clients at the county and state level.
  • Experience managing multidiscipline project teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • PTOE or PMP certification.
  • Experience with multiple project delivery methods (Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, P3).
  • Experience with MicroStation and traffic simulation software (Synchro/SimTraffic, SIDRA, VISSIM).
