About the position

KCTV5 is seeking a Traffic Reporter/Multi-Media Journalist (MMJ) to provide live traffic reports during weekday morning newscasts. The role involves researching, shooting, writing, and editing daily reports for television, digital, and social media platforms. The candidate will also pitch story ideas, fill-in as an anchor for various news shows, and ensure strong writing skills under tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Provide live traffic reports for weekday morning newscasts.
• Research, shoot, write, and edit daily reports for television, digital, and social platforms.
• Pitch interesting and compelling story ideas consistent with the station's brand.
• Fill-in anchor on a variety of news shows as needed.
• Shoot, write, and edit stories for afternoon newscasts after the morning show.
• Post on social media and write web stories to accompany on-air content.

Requirements

• Traffic reporting experience in current or previous position.
• 3 to 5 years as a professional Multi-Media Journalist (MMJ).
• Ability to shoot, write, and edit packages for air.
• Fantastic newsroom citizenship.
• Ability to write web stories and post on social media.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism or related field.
