The Technical Trainer will facilitate and plan all training daily, with tasks that will constantly vary within a work period. This role will be a key contact and trainer for team members, responsible for teammate assessments regarding machine skills, providing feedback, machine certification responsibility, and conducting assessments related to line of progression movements. The Technical Trainer will ensure that site-specific training systems are managed and improved regularly, oversee on-the-job certification, identify skill gaps, and manage training planning and tracking through our Learning Management System. This role will heavily focus on the implementation of the Learning & Training System and enhancing the learner experience. The Guelph facility operates 24/5, and the Technical Trainer should be available to work across any of the shifts: days, afternoons, or nights. The position requires a results-oriented individual who is constantly looking for ways to improve processes and learning technologies to drive training into the flow of work. Strong interpersonal skills are essential for communicating effectively, achieving objectives, and leading teams. The Technical Trainer will also hold themselves and others accountable for actions and results, influence teams to work together, and ensure quality while minimizing waste. This role will involve working closely with trainees and leaders, participating in the hiring process, and conducting training across all shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Completes daily technical training on the floor to assist with the Certification of team members in their roles.
  • Partners with OPS L&D leader to support New Hire Orientation/ On Boarding Training, as needed.
  • Assists with tracking, evaluating, and measuring training locally using the company's Dept. Training Standards & Learning System tools.
  • Supports site specific technical learning solution creation (SOP's, Guided Workflows, Technical Learning Aids - to assist with training).
  • Develops, builds, and maintains relationships with trainees & leaders in their role.
  • Participates in new teammate hiring process - assesses candidates' skills (general and/or machine, involved in interview process to assess industrial experience, and provides perspective on hiring decisions).
  • Conducts training on all shifts.
  • Influences others to be safety-minded.
  • Team member will be certified through a Train the Trainer process, support managing day to day Certification Processes & will be supported by Ops L&D with training tools & general knowledge content.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 1 - 3 years' experience conducting/leading training, including On-The-Job training, or similar, in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • 2 - 4 years' experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems preferred.
  • Microsoft Office Experience Preferred- Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Forms.
