About the position

The Training and Consultation Coordinator for Assistive Technology and Inclusive Practices is responsible for leading professional development and providing technical assistance to educators, administrators, and parents. This role focuses on implementing federal and state regulations, enhancing educational practices, and supporting students with disabilities in accessing the general education curriculum. The coordinator collaborates with various educational initiatives and stakeholders to improve outcomes for students with complex needs, particularly in the areas of communication, literacy, math, and writing.

Responsibilities

  • Researches, designs, and conducts professional development for school district staff to implement Literacy, Math, Writing, and PA Core Standards.
  • Facilitates professional development and technical assistance to improve educators' use of technology tools for diverse learners.
  • Addresses components necessary for improving educational outcomes for students with complex needs through PDE school improvement and equity initiatives.
  • Provides leadership in disseminating resources and technical assistance to build capacity around Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and Assistive Technology (AT).
  • Coordinates activities related to IDEA and Pennsylvania Department of Education initiatives in collaboration with TAC and curriculum colleagues.
  • Participates in trainings related to PDE/Bureau of Special Education initiatives to provide support to local school districts.
  • Assists schools in identifying and analyzing data tools to monitor and adjust educational outcomes.
  • Promotes the services of the Training and Consultation team and maintains relationships with educational stakeholders.
  • Participates on committees and work groups to facilitate organizational goals.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in education or related field required; certification in reading and/or Speech and Language preferred.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years related experience required.
  • Expert level knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and AT devices, software, and apps for students with communication and access needs required.
  • Experience in design and delivery of professional development and knowledge of adult learning required.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in K-12 Administration preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Pennsylvania Assistive Technology Consultant Competencies preferred.
  • Familiarity with disaggregation and analysis of data for instructional decision making.
