About the position
The Training and Development Coordinator Senior position involves planning, scheduling, coordinating, and developing management training for all supervisory staff in the Department of Corrections. The role provides training and organizational development services to various administrators within the Department of Corrections. It is crucial for the position to ensure that all training conducted adheres to the mandates and requirements established by relevant authorities, including the Department of Criminal Justice Services and the American Correctional Association. The position also evaluates training initiatives for new supervisors, focusing on supervising employees in a 'Healing Environment' while incorporating Evidence-Based Practices principles.
Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, coordinate, and develop management training for supervisory staff.
- Provide training and organizational development services to Institutional Training Officers and other DOC administrators.
- Ensure training compliance with mandates from the Department of Criminal Justice Services and other relevant authorities.
- Evaluate training initiatives for new supervisors.
- Incorporate Evidence-Based Practices principles in training.
Requirements
- Knowledge of designing, developing, and delivering training.
- Excellent facilitation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of adult learner theory and facilitation skills.
- Basic knowledge of computers.
- Ability to develop and conduct needs assessments.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, revise, and evaluate curriculum for adult learners.
- Time management skills and ability to manage participants in both in-person and virtual classroom environments.
Nice-to-haves
- Advanced knowledge, training, coursework, or certification in behavioral science, education, training, criminal justice, or a related field.
- Management and supervisory experience in a correctional and/or law enforcement environment.
