About the position

The Training and Development Manager is responsible for driving organizational excellence by ensuring adherence to company policies and performance expectations. This role involves managing and coaching staff to enhance their performance and foster a culture of continuous improvement. The manager will support staff in achieving compliance and operational efficiency while leading by example and demonstrating a commitment to high standards.

Responsibilities

  • Drive organizational excellence by ensuring adherence to company policies and performance expectations.
  • Manage and coach staff to enhance their performance and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Develop internal TPS leaders using the Jishuken process for conducting improvement activities.
  • Support each plant in their improvement efforts using PDCA methodology.
  • Assist with shop floor requests for additional resources, direction, or problem-solving.
  • Support North American Yokogushi teams and act as team leader when required.
  • Attend meetings (virtually and onsite) and participate in yearly Hoshin Planning & activity execution.
  • Assist plants in Start-of-Production and End-of-Production planning.
  • Ensure appropriate plans and resources for each aspect of build-out and launch.
  • Provide input and direction for new programs and processes.
  • Conduct standardized Off-Line Monozukuri Training to TMs & TLs.
  • Manage and track training completion and develop training materials as needed.
  • Establish and track KPIs for performance evaluation and provide status updates and reports.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of training and lessons learned.
  • Identify and address potential safety hazards proactively in alignment with the Safety Department.
  • Monitor schedules and activities, providing direction to project stakeholders as needed.
  • Develop and maintain a working management board with necessary KPIs and action plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or a related technical field.
  • Prior experience in related fields or positions.
  • Demonstrates a complete understanding of component, finished goods, and Futaba processes.
  • Capable of travel (United States and International).
  • Demonstrates strong time management and prioritization skills.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership qualities, including interpersonal skills and teamwork.
  • Strong skills in Floor Management Development System (FMDS).
  • Strong skills in change point management.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Sound judgment in decision-making and establishing priorities.
  • Proactive and oriented to make improvements in systems and procedures.
  • Self-motivated and able to complete tasks in allotted time.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office package.

Nice-to-haves

  • SPC and/or SSBB Certification.
